When I wore this outfit, my boyfriend told me I looked a little "witchy."  Although I hadn't made the connection at first, I do have to agree with him.  It does resemble that of a modern day witch. Don't you think?  He was spot on.  And just to clarify, he wasn't being a meanie.  I always like to hear his thoughts on what I wear (in my last post, he compared my outfit to something Audrey Hepburn would have worn).

These pictures were taken as we were strolling down the streets of San Francisco.  We stopped by a few boutiques we'd never been to, and made some rounds at some of our old favorites.  In case you're wondering why I'm wearing velvet pants and a wool hat in the summer, these pictures are actually from May.  It's also much cooler in the city than it is in the valley.  San Francisco in the summertime is usually a lot colder than it is in the Fall.

Well, that's all for now :) I had to keep this post short...my next one will be posted later this week.  Stay tuned!

When I was in high school, a classmate told me something that changed the way I presented myself.  It was the first week of our freshman year.  At start of one of our classes, he asked me, "Why do you always look so angry?"  Confused, I didn't say anything at first.  I shrugged and replied,  "I'm not angry..."  But he was very persistent.  He kept trying to figure out why I wouldn't ever smile.  I kept trying to explain to him that I was a happy person and that I simply chose not to smile.  But the more I tried to convince him, the more I realized how right he was (and how ridiculous my side of the argument was).

The truth was, I was too busy trying to look cool.  I thought if I smiled too much, I would look like a goofball or something.  "You should smile more," he told me.

That conversation haunted me.  It was not the first time I'd heard someone tell me that I needed to smile more.  But the fact that this kid made a point to tell me this before we even got to know each other made me realize the importance of smiling.  It sounds so silly to think about it now because I love to smile.  It's contagious.  And it makes me feel good to do it.

So when I catch myself looking a little too serious in my photos, it reminds me of that time in high school when I was confronted about my non-smile.  It also makes me think of a friendship that blossomed out of it.

This is why I kind of regret not smiling more in these photographs.  Most of these were test shots.  I wasn't expecting to keep the majority of these.   But perhaps I need to smile even more so...especially during the test shots.  You just never know when it will "count."  :)

Happy Friday!

Lunch with Amber

Lunch With Amber 4 Lunch With Amber 3 Lunch With Amber 2 Lunch With Amber 5 Lunch With Amber 6 Lunch With Amber 7 Lunch With Amber 1 Wearing:
Topshop crochet insert dress (old, but similar here)
Steve Madden "Graanie" booties in cognac
Vintage Dooney & Bourke purse
Mac "Party Parrot" lipstick

Last month, I met up with Amber from Amused blog.  We've met up before, but I'm terrible at posting pictures.  Sometimes I forget to post outfit pictures and other times I don't post them on time.  You can see more of Amber's lovely outfit here.  Her top is seriously gorgeous!  She even got a compliment as we were taking these pictures.

And we also had a rather annoying experience with a creeper.  I carefully selected these pictures to avoid showing him in the background!  It made for a very uncomfortable time.  In a few pictures, you could actually see him walking closer and closer to us...LOL!

But on the plus side, we had some much needed blogger bonding.  She taught me a few new things about my camera, too (I'm terrible at it.  What can I say?  I'm a dinosaur when it comes to technology).

It was fun to meet up with a fellow blogger.  Have you ever met any bloggers in your area?

PS.  Thank you Amber for these photos!  You've got the Midas touch of photography ;)

Let It Bee

Let It Bee 1 Let It Bee 2 Let It Bee 3 Let It Bee 4 Let It Bee 5 Let It Bee 6 Let It Bee 7 Let It Bee 8

Wearing:
Vintage blouse (Another gem from my mom.  It's from the 70s.)
AG Jeans "The Legging"
Prada sunglasses
Kontal-Kontil "Beatrice" earrings (buy them here)
Vintage purse
Mac "hue" lipstick with a Clinique lipgloss on top

Do you like my new earrings?  I love the little golden bees on them.  Anything with insects on it immediately draws my attention.  I've had a fascination with all things creepy crawly since I was a kid.  And for a brief period in my life, I wanted to become an entomologist.  I even had the scientific names down for certain butterflies and ladybugs.  Yeah, I was kind of a weirdo.  But you have to admit that bugs are pretty cool critters.

My fascination with insects is one of the reasons why I'm smitten about these earrings.  I love the blue and light pink colors combined with the gold, too.  Although they're long they don't weigh much.  They're a comfortable wear.  And the irony behind these earrings?  I'm actually allergic to bees.  :)
