I finally bit the bullet and bought a blue lipstick.  This metallic blue color is incredible.  It's not for everyone and I don't expect it to be a crowd pleaser.  I just really loved this gorgeous hue and wanted to try something different from my usual pink or red shades.

This was my first purchase from ABH and I must say I'm impressed.  I was expecting the lipstick to feather, but it didn't.  I assumed it would easily come off, but it didn't (not even after lunch).  And I was dreading removing the lipstick from my lips after wearing it for a full day.  I thought, ok...if it stays on this well on my lips, it's definitely going to be difficult to remove.  Well, that wasn't so.  It came off easily with coconut oil and it didn't even stain my lips after wearing it for a full day (unlike most highly pigmented lipstick colors).

What I love most about ABH is that her products are cruelty free.  I've mentioned before on my blog that I'm making a conscious effort to purchase beauty products that don't test on animals.  Not only is testing on animals completely unnecessary, it doesn't even guarantee that the products won't harm you.

Ok, rant over.  I wore neutral eyeshadow and blush to make the dark blue lipstick the main focus.  And I kept my outfit pretty simple.  I feel that the clothing you wear should go with the color of your lipstick, otherwise your look won't be as cohesive.

Have any of you tried unusual colored lipsticks?

Vintage Red Dress

Vintage red floral dress
Dolce and Gabbana almond flower sunglasses (tortoiseshell)
Topshop sandals
Barney's wicker bag
YSL Ultimate Beige lipstick

I wore this outfit when I went out for lunch and a leisurely stroll.  This is the first time this vintage dress has made an appearance on my blog.  I love vintage items.  Especially ones that came from my mom.  She handed this to me some years ago and I fell in love.  It's just so sweet and feminine.  And what I love even more is that there is a little bit of family history woven into it.

Hope you guys have a great weekend.  Thank you for reading :)

Short overalls / Shortalls

Overalls 1 Overalls 2 Overalls 3 Overalls 4 Overalls 5 Overalls 6 Overalls 7 Overalls 8 Overalls 9 Overalls 10 Overalls 11 Wearing:
Lovers and Friends overalls (Revolve Clothing)
Motel gingham crop top
Keds
Topshop cheeseburger necklace
YSL Ultimate Beige lipstick

I usually don't like to take my outfit pictures in my backyard.  Reason being my pets like to photo bomb (as seen in the bottom right of the first photo.  Yes, that's a turkey.  He's a sweetie...sometimes).  But I didn't want to haul my camera around the farmer's market and I wouldn't have had another opportunity to take photos that day.

I've worn this outfit twice already.  Once to the State Fair and a second time to the farmer's market.  I love these short overalls from Lovers and Friends.  They're really comfortable and fun.  I bought them last year and I never wore them until this year.  I meant to return them and I totally forgot.  So I kept them.  And I'm actually really glad I did :)

About a week ago, I went to the city with a friend.  Instead of immediately wandering around outdoors as I expected, we stepped into Forever 21.  Five hours of shopping later, it was dinner time.  I was shocked at how fast the time went by.   We had spent the entire day indoors.  Normally I hate to spend so much time inside.  I love being outside.  But I hadn't gone shopping to an actual store in such a long time.  Recently I've just been shopping online because it's so much more convenient.  Plus, I make better decisions regarding what I really need when I take the time to shop online.

Summers in San Francisco are always cool and foggy.  So I wore my denim jacket and comfortable flats because I knew I'd be on my feet all day in this hilly city.  This stretchy dress was comfortable and perfect.  Especially in the dressing room when I constantly took it off and put it back on.

This is one of my go-to hanging out / shopping dresses.  Do you have any comfy outfits you routinely wear to go shopping?

Do you ever wear something you thought was so cute you couldn't wait to take photos with it?  And then you look at them and realize that what you thought was a cute outfit wasn't so cute after all?  Sometimes what we wear doesn't translate very well on the camera.  This is what happened to this outfit.  I absolutely love this pinafore.  I think it's adorable, fun, and such a cute throwback to the 90s.   I can't say enough good things about this piece.  It's comfortable, soft, and everything I want to wear when I just want to relax.  But for some reason the camera doesn't seem to agree with me.  It looks better in person, I promise :)

What made me want to buy this jumpsuit (or romper...or pinafore lol) in the first place is a photo I came across.  It's an old photo of my mom in the early 90s wearing a corduroy pinafore jumpsuit.  It was a dusty sky blue color.  She wore a dark blue floral print turtleneck underneath.  That outfit looked so good on her!  I knew at that point I had to get my hands on something similar.  Topshop had a few cordury pinafore jumpsuits last year, but unfortunately I missed out.  Lucky for me, no one seemed to be buying this one in my size...so I snagged it.

What do you guys think of this pinafore?  I totally get why some women hate them.  They can look frumpy.  But layer it up right and you've got a perfect outfit to wear for the weekend.
